“Mothers” Photo Project- Shylo

Dear mothers,

I see your battered heart

So full, yet so heavy

so sad, so pretty

I see your tired eyes

So bright, yet so dark

so watchful, so stark

I see your broken body

so strong, yet so tired

so weak, so required

I see the depths of the love you bear

Seeking comfort, but from where?

Where is there rest?

Neither here nor there

Energy sapped

Alone, overwhelmed

Reserves tapped, yet you’re at the helm

I see your struggle

Such resolve yet so hard

such love, such trouble

Lonely in the dark

Such strain, yet much ahead

such hope, such heart

Mothers, I love you

I feel it, too

such ache, such sacrifice

Looking ahead and today will suffice
